Massage & Bodywork

Massage renews energy, reduces stress, brings relaxation and relief from pain, and helps balance body and mind. Furthermore, massage provides many health benefits: it increases oxygenation of blood, releases of toxins from muscles, stimulates circulation without increasing the heart load, speeds recovery time from muscular strain by flushing lactic and uric acids and other metabolic wastes, increases muscle tone, helps balance the musculo-skeletal system, and more!

Integrated Massage:
Integrates many techniques to create a massage that is designed for your specific needs. Whether you are in pain, need help relieving a chronic issue, need tension relief, or just want to relax and enjoy deeper pressure, we will work with your needs to design the massage for you.

For clients who want a longer massage –or—who need more time to address many problem areas. A 2-hour massage allows the therapist more time to focus on specific muscle work including therapeutic stretching.

Thai Massage
Thai Massage is an Ayurvedic-based body science in which a trained Thai massage therapist stretches the client with specific, assisted yoga poses. As the Thai massage therapist stretches the client, they also massage along energy lines or points. This treatment is performed fully clothed (in clothing that allows for movement) on a mat that is placed on the floor.

Thai massage has many benefits including relaxation, stress reduction, improved circulation, increased energy, increased flexibility, improved range of motion, centers mind and body, and more!

(Thai massage is not suited for everyone. If you are not able to complete a beginner level yoga class, this may not be the technique for you. But there are many other wonderful options for massage!)

Tok Sen:
This ancient Thai practice is uses wooden tools and tapping motion to relax muscles, break up scar tissue, soothe the nervous system, and more. It also creates a deep resonance throughout the body that make this technique truly special. The Thais talk about it as vibration therapy and it is used today in hospitals and medical facilities as well as at spas and traditional healing facilities. It comes from the northern Lanna tribes close to and around Chiang Mai. Tok Sen compliments Thai massage (it is often incorporated with Traditional Thai massage in Thailand) and Integrated Massage and can be added as an enhancement to Thai or Integrated Massage.

Tui Na Back Protocol:
Classical Chinese Medical Massage is traditionally used in conjunction with Acupuncture, Chinese Herbology, Traumatology, and other Chinese medical practices, but it is also great on its own or combined with Integrated Massage. This is also available as a  treatment enhancement. This technique is done clothed most of the time. It is recommended to wear comfortable clothing without belts and ideally not jeans. (Tui Na is more than just a back protocol and we hope to introduce more of this technique soon!)

Hot Stone Massage:
Heated basalt stones are placed on specific points on the body to relax and soothe the muscles. While stones rest on the body, other stones are used as extensions of the therapists’ hands to help release achy tired muscles and calm the mind. Hot stone massage has also been shown to provide temporary relief from some medical conditions including MS, arthritis, fibromyalgia, circulatory problems, and more.  (An appointment for Hot Stone Massage needs to be booked and confirmed with at  least 3 hours notice so the stones can heat appropriately)

The structures of connective tissue that surround muscle, groups of muscles, and other structures that allow them to slide easily over each other are fascia. Sometimes the fascia gets bound up and restricted. Myofascial Release uses movement and slow sustained pressure over an area to help the fascia unbind and let go to restore movement and relieve pain.  (Please wear gym shorts and (and ladies wear a sports bra) for this appointment– some of the work will be done while clothed.)
